Prime Video just handed Legally Blonde fans a first real look at Elle, the prequel series arriving July 1. The new trailer and key art tease a story that trades Harvard Law for high school hallways, and longtime fans are already buzzing. Elle expands the beloved franchise a full 25 years before Elle Woods ever stepped foot in a courtroom.
Produced by Amazon MGM Studios alongside Hello Sunshine, Elle will roll out all eight episodes at once, giving viewers a full binge experience from day one. Ahead of the premiere, Prime Video already renewed the show for a second season, a strong vote of confidence in the project.
What Elle Is Really About
Season One of Elle rewinds to 1995, when a teenage Elle Woods navigates high school instead of law school. She faces tricky friendships and a forbidden romance along the way. Questionable fashion choices pop up too, though nothing derails her spirit. Throughout the season, Elle leans on her family, especially her mother, to get through it all. That bond becomes a steady anchor as she grows into the icon fans already know.
Because the story unfolds before her Harvard days, Elle gives longtime fans fresh context for everything that comes later. Meanwhile, new viewers get an entry point that does not require any prior franchise knowledge at all.

The Cast Bringing Elle to Life
Lexi Minetree stars as a young Elle Woods, stepping into a role fans hold dear. June Diane Raphael plays her mother, Eva, while Tom Everett Scott plays her father, Wyatt. Supporting the family are Jacob Moskovitz, Gabrielle Policano, Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, and Amy Pietz.
Additionally, a deep bench of recurring performers rounds out the world of Elle. That group includes Brad Harder, Chloe Wepper, Danielle Chand, David Burtka, James Van Der Beek, Jessica Belkin, Kayla Maisonet, Lisa Yamada, Logan Shroyer, Matt Oberg, and Sharon Taylor. Given the size of the ensemble, high school clearly feels like a full world of its own.
Who Is Steering Elle Behind the Scenes
Laura Kittrell created Elle and shares showrunning duties with Caroline Dries. Both previously built strong television resumes, and that experience shows in the ambition on screen. Reese Witherspoon also returns to the franchise as an executive producer, alongside Lauren Neustadter, Amanda Brown, Marc Platt, and Brad Van Arragon.
Jason Moore directed the first two episodes and executive produces the season as well. Julia Brownell and Eli Wilson Pelton serve as co-executive producers, while Josie Craven and Jen Regan hold supervising producer credits. Producers Bryan J. Raber and Asmita Paranjape round out the team steering Elle from behind the camera.
Elle World Marks 25 Years of Legally Blonde
To celebrate both the premiere and the 25th anniversary of Legally Blonde, Prime Video is hosting Elle World, a free one-day event in New York City. The activation promises experiential moments, exclusive merchandise, and a few surprises for attendees. Reservations open June 10 at 8:00am ET through ElleWorldNYC.com.
Since the franchise turns 25 this year, the timing gives fans a reason to celebrate both projects together. Overall, the event signals how much weight Amazon MGM Studios is putting behind Elle as a flagship title this summer.
